GLOBAL TEMPERATURE IMPACT

The planet’s temperatures have increased over time and there has been scientific confirmation that the increased concentration of greenhouse in the air has driven the increase in temperatures. These greenhouse gases are primarily due to human activity such as the burning of fossil fuels, the release of industrial chemicals into the environment and the expansion of agriculture.

Since the Industrial Revolution, the planet’s temperatures have increased in total by more than 1 degree Celsius (approximately 2 degrees Fahrenheit). However, in the last 10 to 20 years the planet’s temperature has increased significantly with an increase of 0.18 degrees Celsius per decade. This may not sound like much of an increase but the effects have been felt across the globe. Some statistics tom put things into perspective:

  1. 9 of the 10 warmest years since 1880 have occurred since 2005
  2. The warmest years on record have all occurred since 2015.

After much research, scientists the world over have calculated that there is a point of no return. This means that after a specific temperature has been reached the effects will be irreversible and the consequences / impact significant. Research indicates that the temperature increase must be limited to 1.5 degrees Celsius by 2040 to avoid significant impact of agriculture weather patterns, droughts etc.
